Here's the Basics:
From DPI website: "Important Note: The current SCoS will continue to be the taught and tested standards in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years. We expect the new standards to be taught and assessed in schools for the first time in the 2012-13 school year."
This year, we are training and learning about the new standards, next year (2012-2013) we will teach and we assessed on the new standards. (Except for K-2 who will be implementing Core Curriculum this year.)
The new standards are "Common Core" for Math and English Language Arts and "Essential Standards" for all the other subjects. The Common Core standards are being adopted by every almost every state, so students across the country will be learning the same objectives each year in each grade level.
